About the Project

Valley Edge BESS is a 250-megawatt (MW), 1000-megawatt hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) proposed for development in the Red Deer County.

Valley BESS is proposed to store and discharge electricity to-and-from Alberta’s electrical grid, and to provide ancillary services, such as frequency and network support.

Valley Edge BESS is subject to the Alberta Utility Commission’s Rule 007: Applications for Power Plants, Substations, Transmission Lines, Industrial System Designations, Hydro Developments and Gas Utility Pipelines.

Location

Valley Edge BESS is proposed for development on private lands approximately 11-kilometers east of the the City of Red Deer.
